The Simrad AT40 (AA010150) is a bi-directional data interface module designed to bridge Simrad's SimNet (NMEA 2000 CAN-bus) network architecture with serial NMEA 0183 marine instruments. It enables seamless data translation between modern SimNet/NMEA 2000 autopilots, instruments, and chartplotters and legacy or specialized NMEA 0183 sensors, VHF radios, DSC systems, GPS receivers, and heading sensors.

The module features a yellow inline SimNet connector for direct plug-and-play insertion into a SimNet backbone or multi-joiner port, while the opposite side provides a cable harness with stripped leads for RS-422/RS-232 NMEA 0183 differential serial wiring. The AT40 automatically translates parameter group numbers (PGNs) into standard NMEA 0183 sentences (such as HDG, MWV, VHW, and POS) at 4800 baud without requiring external software programming or configuration.
