The Spectra Watermakers KIT-CHEM-SC3 (commonly designated SC-3) is a specialized, dry powdered acidic membrane cleaning compound formulated specifically for maintaining and restoring Reverse Osmosis (RO) desalinator membranes. Engineered for use across all Spectra marine watermaker systems (including Ventura, Cape Horn, Catalina, Newport, and Farallon series), SC-3 dissolves hard water mineral scaling, calcium carbonate deposits, silica, and iron buildup that accumulate on delicate polyamide thin-film composite (TFC) membrane surfaces over time.

When dissolved in fresh unchlorinated water or product water, SC-3 lowers solution pH to safely strip mineral crusting without degrading the structural membrane matrix. It is recommended when a watermaker system experiences reduced fresh water output flow despite normal operating pressure or as the second step following an alkaline treatment (SC-2) during a comprehensive membrane flush protocol.
